Jennifer Davis is an American vocalist and journalist who has lived in St. Petersburg for the past five years.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Jennifer first came to St. Petersburg in 1996 to study Russian. In 2000, she returned to St. Petersburg and began studying jazz vocals at Mussorgsky Music School. She launched her music career in 2001 singing with the Leningrad Dixieland Jazz Band and the Alexei Kannunikov Band at the Jazz Philharmonic Hall. In 2002, she began performing with St. Petersburg Ska-Jazz Review and has since toured Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, and the United States.
In 2005, J.D. and the Blenders was born, a tribute to Jennifer’s favorite all-time music: classic American funk and soul. She also spins discs as DJ Freakadelka at the hotspots Dacha and Novus in St. Petersburg, where she plays jazz, blues, funk, soul, hip hop, rock, new wave and 80s’ pop.
